Education Ministry
Ministry Coordinators: Bro. Gene Cooper

The Church of Christ at Georgia Avenue strives to provide an education, which is disciplined and creative, intellectual and moral - an education firmly rooted in the word of God. Our program is designed to encourage the active participation and involvement of the student in the learning process. Rather than receiving rote knowledge passively, each student must actively engage themselves through critical thinking skills, analysis, and discovery. We want to impact three primary skills of children and adults:

Learning skills ~ the ability to acquire knowledge and transform it into productive activities and actions;
Development skills
~ the ability and will to move and change, mentally, physically, and in term of social roles;
Cognitive skills ~ the ability to recognize, acquire, and share cognitive knowledge. We believe all of those skills can be learned, harnessed, and strengthened via a thorough study of the word of God. For we know the Bible is able to make us wise (2 Tim 3:15).

Evangelism Ministry
Ministry Coordinator: Bro. Melvin L. Otey

The primary tasks of each individual Christian are maintaining a right relationship with the Father and helping others to establish the same by carrying the gospel to those who are lost in sin. Matt. 28:19-20, Mark 16:15-16; 2 Cor. 5:18-20. The early church was an active church, whose function extended beyond that of a worship society. As the saints of Christ did in the first century, we must preach the gospel every where we go and in every aspect of our lives. Acts 8:1-4. With kindness and courtesy, friendliness and enthusiasm, the message of redemption has to be distinctly and positively presented with sincere love and concern.

Therefore, every member should be able to communicate the gospel effectively and persuasively. Our ministers are leaders, coaches and supporters to the end that our membership will be comprised of well-trained, well-coordinated teams of personal evangelists. We are committed to encouraging a soul winning lifestyle and training the membership in soul winning ways and techniques. In order to do so, individual member's specific weaknesses must be identified and addressed, while positive habits must be fostered and encouraged. Through this process, we build confidence so that each one can reach those around them who have not come to an obedient faith.

Life Lines Ministry
Ministry Coordinator: Antoine Johnson
Genesis 4:9, Matthew 18:10-14

Spiritual Objectives:
Christ declared His profound desire to seek and save the lost in Matthew 18:11 as He had declared throughout His entire ministry while here on earth . When we read this parable we learn that the salvation of one soul is of utmost importance to our Lord and Savior. He, being the good shepherd, goes out and seeks the whereabouts of the one sheep that has gone astray, even if it means leaving the ninety nine behind. We too, being the sheep of His fold and striving to be accountable to God for our brothers and sisters in Christ, must have the same conviction when it comes to members of the Lord's church.

This ministry is designed primarily to reach out to and to edify members who are consistently not in attendance or who are considered as unfaithful. This criteria is set based on 2 weeks of consecutive absence from services and or weekly bible studies without knowledge of membership status, intent to travel or any other reason that would impact a members ability to attend service regularly.

Responsibilities:

REACH IN : Seek the lost members:
(1) Identify and reach out to all members who have once walked faithful and no longer participate in church and or fellowship activities consistently. (2) Contacting a faithful member not in attendance who has not given notice of their absence, ensuring that they are well and that the church knows about their desire for prayer on their behalf or on the behalf of others.

REACH OUT : Contact the Non- members:
Call all visitors that attend the worship services of the church and or related events.

REACH UP : Pray for all individuals identified and contacted:
Active prayer sessions designed to edify and intercede on behalf of each individual that meets the criteria listed above.
